tonight's dinner - ground lamb with middle eastern spices


very easy recipe for this i threw together yesterday

ground lamb meatballs with middle eastern spices

1 lemon (all the zest and half the juice)
1/2 onion, diced
1 shallot, diced
2 lb lamb
1 egg
spices: cinnamon, nutmeg, cumin, salt, pepper, mint
oil for frying

grate zest of one lemon into a mixing bowl with half a lemon's worth of juice
add diced onion and diced shallot
add spices (i added some fresh chopped mint and cilantro) about a teaspoon of each depending on your preferences
add ground lamb and one egg
mix this all together and make small meatball or sausage shapes (i used an ice cream scoop)

fry in hot oil, turning after a few minutes so both sides get browned

when done drain on paper towel and serve

i ate mine with carrots, potatoes and parsnips cut into slices and roasted with the other half of the lemon
