book studies

during a trip to chicago to visit a friend we went to the art institute and saw some drawings of gerhard richter. this prompted a discussion of the abstraction of a book into almost sketched (or perhaps rarefied) elements. this is my first try at that. covers are two slabs of proportionally similar but mismatched wood, cherry and pine, binding is a leather strip and paper is an indian rag, 2 hole bound. i am interested in producing a series of these and treating them almost as architectural elements where size and form are sympathetic but not necessarily rigidly defined.
