win some caramels

having made these rosewater and honey caramels dipped in chocolate the other day i decided i needed to share them with some lucky someone somewhere.

whats at stake:
these caramels start off rich and dark chocolately, then comes the smooth caramel and its tulip poplar honey sweetness, then you get a sublime aftertaste of rose. made with all organic ingredients and hand dipped by me.

what to do:
to send in an entry, post a comment here about your favorite decadent dessert. let's hear what makes you weak in the knees. following my blog isn't necessary but would be appreciated of course.

when do you win:
i'll leave entries open until march 27th, choosing a winner at random and notify you on this blog, and the above package will be sent directly to your door to enjoy.

fine print: for those with allergies, these caramels contain organic irish butter, organic cream, turbindo sugar, locally sourced tulip poplar honey, rose oil and rosewater. the chocolate is a 60% dark.

mine would probably be bread pudding with raisins and sauce on top. yep, that would be it.

OK, well, I would like to talk about creme brulee. It's not just about the dessert but about sharing it--tapping your spoon on the thin crisp top, cracking the shell to the smooth silky custard beneath, letting it melt on your tongue in a vanilla kiss, smiling at each other as you offer the other the next bite while secretly hoping the math of division will allow you to have the last one, spoons colliding toward the last sugary piece of caramelized sugar, the headiness of sugar and cream and butter hitting bottom.

Cheesecake, and not that fluffy light cheesecake. I'm talking about the dense, rich cheesecake that is only about two inches thick and has the buttery graham cracker crust. I prefer it plain, but wouldn't object to a slice of pecan pie sitting on top.

OMG a few years ago I went on a blind date with this guy someone set me up with from work. He was a pretty nice guy, nothing exciting, didn't make me weak in the knees..hehe After eating a sumptuous dinner of prime rib, we ordered desert. I remember watching the waitress bring this plate filled with two warm soft right out of the oven brownies surrounding this beautifully creamy vanilla bean ice cream (no not mint chocolate chip, Todd..LOL), with this hot fudge covering this beautiful sculpture of a desert, and whip cream topping it off. When I dipped my spoon in this sumptuous dessert for the first time, and put it to my lips, THAT is when I went weak in the knees. I was so glad i was sitting. The poor guy across from me, must have thought I was happy with our date from the big grin on my face...hehehe I couldn't help it. I didn't care I was on a date either, I ate the whole damn thing...LOL I will never forget it. Haven't had a weak in the knees moment with dessert or a date since :P

One of the best desserts I ever ate was rose and pistachio ice cream just thinking about it makes my mouth water and always was my treat after a night of belly dancing .

the one where you take a fig, slice it open, put some goat cheese and pignoli inside, and then wrap it back up with a piece of prosciutto or bacon or some other fatty pig meat and then grill it and eat it with lemonade from Meyer lemons ... can you tell I'm ready for summer!?

well, i must say that a part of me seconds harper's motion! however, decadence's best opportunity is always in chocolate!!! i'll go for the "diplimatico" served by the Foxfire Restaurant in Stowe , VT. A cake soaked with a touch of rum and kahlua, with a generous middle layer of chocolate mousse... topped with dark chocolate icing and fresh whipped cream... Mmmm... sounds delicious even before noon!!!
